After not doing well at the previous Mzuzu Half Marathon, On Saturday June 17, Moyale Barracks soldier Private Blair Phiri performed wonders at Be More Race organized by Standard Bank Malawi.
Phiri finished on fourth position, behind the man of the moment Chikondi Mwanyali from Civo service club who won the race by clinching the first position.
Phiri jogged a 21 kilomiter race in 1 hour 7 minutes.
His Coach WOII Always Zingire said he is happy and he will keep on encouraging him to fulfill his dream to become one of the best in the country.
“I am proud of Athlete Phiri, but he can do much better than this. I will keep on encouraging him to extra working hard and l salute him,” Zingire said.
The winner Chikondi Mwanyali received K 1.5 million for outclassing fellow runners.
Mphatso Nadolo grabbed the second Position, While third position went to Chance Master, as Blair Phiri finished forth.
In womens category Kenyan Monica Cheruto and Naomi Jepkori took position 1 and 2, respectively.
Nalise Chirwa, scooped third position after running at 1 hour, 20 minutes, 30 seconds.
