Kaning’ina Stadium, Sunday Afternoon — Moyale Barracks produced a spirited comeback to defeat their fellow Malawi Defence Force side, Kamuzu Barracks, 2–1 in an entertaining TNM Super League encounter.

The victory was inspired by a brilliant performance from Nadrick Nyirenda, who netted a brace scoring once in each half to hand the Kaning’ina soldiers a much-needed win at home.

How the Match Unfolded

It was the visitors, Kamuzu Barracks, who struck first through Francis Mchema early in the game. The goal came after Zeliat Nkhoma whipped in a dangerous cross from the left flank that initially beat Jere. In the resulting scramble, defenders Lusekero Malema and Ntopijo Njewa failed to clear their lines, allowing Mchema to slot the ball home and put the visitors ahead.

Moyale responded with determination and began to dominate possession as the first half progressed. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 41st minute, when Clever Kalambo delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Nadrick Nyirenda, who calmly finished to level the score at 1–1.

Kalambo’s creativity and work rate earned him the Player of the Match award for his outstanding contribution in midfield.

The teams went into the break with the scoreline level, setting up a thrilling second half.

Second Half Fightback

At the start of the second half, Moyale made tactical changes to inject fresh energy into the game, introducing Amos Chipeta and Clifford Chimlambe for Lesman Singini and the injured Jimmy Viyuyi.

The substitutions paid off almost immediately.

In the 53rd minute, Nyirenda completed his brace with a composed finish that put Moyale Barracks in front for the first time in the match.

Despite late pressure from Kamuzu Barracks, the hosts held firm to secure all three points, sealing an important 2–1 victory.
