Moyale Barracks FC endured a difficult afternoon in Lilongwe after going down 4-1 to Silver Strikers in a FDH Bank premier league encounter played on Saturday.
FIRST HALF
The hosts began the match on the front foot, dictating the tempo and forcing Moyale onto the back foot in the opening stages. Their early pressure paid off as Silver Strikers broke the deadlock in the first half, taking advantage of a lapse in concentration at the back to go 1-0 up.

Moyale Barracks struggled to settle into rhythm but gradually grew into the game, showing glimpses of attacking intent. However, just as the visitors looked to stabilize, Silver doubled their lead before halftime with a composed finish, sending Moyale into the break trailing 1-0.
SECOND HALF RESPONSE
After the restart, Moyale Barracks returned with renewed energy and purpose though Silver responded fast by scoring a second goal.
Moyale efforts were rewarded when they pulled one goal back through a well-taken finish header by Charles Nkhoma at 55 minutes, the ball from free kick by Brown Magaga reducing the deficit to 2-1 and briefly shifting momentum in their favour.
SUBSTITUTIONS
In a bid to change the course of the match, the technical panel introduced fresh legs in the second half. Nadrick Nyirenda and Chifundo Makawa came in to add energy and attacking options, replacing Dumisani Chizizi and Brown Magaga respectively.

MATCH DECIDER
Despite the adjustments, Silver Strikers remained clinical. They restored their two-goal cushion shortly after, capitalizing on defensive gaps to make it 3-1. As Moyale pushed forward in search of another goal, the hosts exploited spaces on the counterattack and added a fourth goal late in the game to seal the result. Silver scored at 38th, 52nd, 68th and 74th minutes of the game.
COACH’S REACTION
Head Coach Pritchard Mwansa acknowledged the team’s shortcomings while emphasizing the need for improvement.
“We did not manage key moments well today. We showed some fight in the second half, but we were punished for our mistakes. We have to regroup quickly and correct these errors going forward.”
