The 3RD Battalion of Malawi Rifles, Moyale Barracks Sports teams left for Lilongwe where they will be playing in qualification stage to find teams to represent MDF at the finals of this year Army Sports Festival.

These teams includes Volleyball, Netball, Basketball, Darts, Football and Tag of War, while running track athletes and Hockey teams already qualified to the finals.

Speaking before departure, leader of the teams Lt Mike Chimwala said they are geared for the games.

“After passing the first stage of qualifications we did not stop with our preparation. All sporting disciplines were training as well as playing friendly games. So we are geared for the games on Thursday,” said Chimwala

Moyale will play teams from other units that qualified in preliminary rounds.

Moyale are the defending Champions after winning the overall trophy in previous Army sports festival held at Malawi Armed Forces Collage MAFCO in Salima.

The grand finale will be held in Lilongwe at Bingu National Stadium on 10th October 2022.
