Moyale Barracks Football Club on Saturday held a charity event as part of sending a good will message in preparation of the 2022 football season.

As per tradition in recent years, the 3rd Battalion military outfit together with its partner and sponsor, Medhealth Limited embarked on a K3 million charity initiative at Zolozolo Secondary School where more than 50 girls received school bags loaded with education and sanitary materials.

Part of the entourage was Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Justice Ivy Kamanga who challenged all learners at the school to remain focused in education if they are to achieve their future goals.

She stressed by warning female students about the evils of early marriages emanating from peer pressure during adolescence which she says is detrimental to their livelihoods.

“I have also gone through difficult times just like any other female student, I have sold mandasi and mangoes but I built it in my mind that one day I should live in my own house in Sunnyside in the city of Blantyre,” said Justice Kamanga.

On his part, Commanding Officer for Moyale Barracks, Lieutenant Colonel Thokozani Chazema thanked Medhealth for assisting both Moyale Barracks Football Club and Zolozolo Secondary School saying the assistance will go a long way in developing the beneficiaries.

“As a Barrack we always appreciate the cordial existence we enjoy with partners and the communities around our workplace, we chose to come with this year’s donation to the people of Zolozolo Township,” said Chazema.

Also present at the function was the Northern Education Division Manager, Mzondi Moyo.

Some of the recipients of the donation, Grace Mkandawire and Florence Gama pledged to work extra hard so as to realize their dreams of becoming a nurse and lawyer respectively.
