About K700,000 was raised to purchase mattresses for women football players during a Sports Members’ Gathering organized by the Moyale Barracks Sports Trustees.

The fundraising initiative followed an appeal by Moyale Barracks Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Clement Ngalonde, PSC, who asked the trustees to support the women’s team, particularly in improving accommodation conditions at the players’ hostels.

Responding to the call, Counsel Victor Gondwe pledged K300,000, while Mzuzu University Vice Chancellor, Professor Wales Singini, committed K200,000. The 101 Brigade Commander, Colonel M. Chimbayo, also pledged K200,000—bringing the total amount raised to K700,000.

In a related development, the trustees assured Moyale Barracks Sports teams of continued support throughout the current season.

The event brought together sports members from various disciplines at Moyale Barracks.
