Moyale Barracks Camp Hospital has been named the best-performing health facility among 13 Malawi Defence Force (MDF) health facilities supported by Jhpiego.

The recognition was made on Wednesday during the handover of a hybrid inverter power backup system procured by Jhpiego for the facility.

Speaking during the handover, Jhpiego Program Manager Chimwemwe Chirembo attributed Moyale’s achievement to commitment, teamwork and strong leadership.

“Moyale’s success is a result of dedication, teamwork and strong leadership. The facility has consistently demonstrated its commitment to quality healthcare services,” said Chirembo.

Chirembo said Moyale had also emerged as the best-performing site among the MDF-supported facilities last year, adding that the facility had continued to improve rather than relying on its previous achievement.

She said the power backup system was provided to help address disruptions caused by electricity outages and ensure continuity of essential health services.

“This system will help bridge the gap during power outages and support uninterrupted delivery of essential health services,” She said.

Receiving the equipment, Moyale Barracks Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Clement Ngalonde thanked Jhpiego for what he described as timely support.

“This is timely support because power outages can affect service delivery. The backup system will help us continue providing essential services even when electricity goes out,” said Ngalonde.

Ngalonde commended the healthcare workers for their commitment and urged them to maintain the standards that had enabled the facility to emerge as the best among the 13 MDF-supported sites.

At the event, two Moyale Barracks healthcare workers were also recognized for outstanding performance.

The support is expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide uninterrupted healthcare services to the military community and surrounding areas.
