The hunt for the points reaches the climax in the top flight league this afternoon as the Lions of Kaning’ina, Moyale Barracks are in the territory of the Zomba based Lions, Ref Lions who are using Balaka Stadium following the closure of Zomba Community Ground which is being rehabilitated.

Nicolas Mhango’s men are coming from a barren draw against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers while Red Lions are struggling to collect points this season.

Red Lions, the oldest military team to play in the top flight have only 6 wins in this fixture out of 31 meetings in all competitions while Moyale have 16 wins.

Nicolas Mhango head coach for Moyale Barracks said they are ready for the game and it’s a do or die for them.

“There can challenges because of the temperature. Balaka is too hot but we will try to get points. We know that they are also needing the points, but we will try to win it,” said Mhango.

Last season Moyale Barracks collected maximum points at Balaka Stadium after a 1-0 win while Red Lions also bagged maximum points at Mzuzu Stadium after a 2-1 win.

Since 2016 when Innocent Bokosi scored a brace, Red Lions are yet to win at home against Moyale Barracks in three games, losing twice and drawing once.

The Soldiers from Old Malawi Capital Zomba are 15th with 4 points from five games while Moyale Barracks are 9th with 6 points.
