A first-half strike from Nadrick Nyirenda in the 38th minute was enough for Moyale Barracks FC to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Songwe United on Sunday afternoon at Mzuzu Stadium in a TNM Super League encounter.
First Half Action
Both sides began the game with intent, creating early scoring opportunities, but were denied by brilliant goalkeeping from Benard Mwangosi for Songwe and Olisy Nkhwazi for Moyale.
As the half wore on, the Lions of Kaning’ina grew into the game, pressing the visitors high. Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when Nadrick Nyirenda perfectly timed his run to beat the offside trap and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net sending the Moyale fans into celebration.
Second Half Play
Moyale started the second half strongly, maintaining possession and piling pressure on Songwe’s backline. However, in the final ten minutes, Songwe United pushed forward in search of an equalizer, forcing Moyale to defend deep. Goalkeeper Olisy Nkhwazi stood tall, making several crucial saves to preserve the lead and ensure Moyale claimed all three points.

In the second half, Coach Prichard Mwansa introduced Chisomo Chawanda, Bonface Chuma, and Chifundo Makawa for Lovemore Jere, Mphatso Kasonga, and Lameck Mithi respectively, adding fresh energy to the team to see out the game.
